(BEng Thesis) A 6-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) Monitoring and Tracking System for Home-based Rehabilitation

This study aims to develop a 6MWT monitoring platform and tracking Android application that assists in conducting the test in home-based environment as an alternative approach. The developed algorithm utilizes Android smartphone sensors as accelerometer and magnetometer for processing the azimuth angle to detect body rotation at the end of the hallway, and step counter sensor for counting the steps and residual distance calculation. The patient data are transmitted to a web dashboard for clinicians to view the results. A telehealth application is developed using WebRTC to allow post-test consultation and remote monitoring.
